Øglænd cleats were tested for resistance to electromechanical forces according to IEC 61914:2021. Tests were performed for a fault duration of approximately 110ms, with a class 2 single core 400mm² copper cable. These parameters are standard and as otherwise defined in IEC 61914:2021. There are other variable factors which can affect the outcome of such short circuit tests however, including: fault duration, softness of cable outer sheath and conductor material. These variable factors cannot be accounted for using this calculating tool. Our calculator for cleat selection is using equations provided in IEC 61914:2021 for calculating the forces a cable cleat may be subjected to during a short circuit. The cleat selector assumes that there is no force interaction with other cables. I.e., cables in immediate vicinity do not carry short circuit current simultaneously, including cables belonging to the same circuit. The derivation of equations assume that the cables are rigid and do not move in the test. Due to the limited user inputs, the number of factors that may need to be accounted for, and the assumptions made in the IEC 61914:2021 standard, no formal warranty is given concerning the accuracy of the recommendations provided in the cleat selector. The cleat selector is intended to be used by persons with adequate technical knowledge, and as a guidance tool for preliminary selection of cable cleats only. In all circumstances it remains the user’s responsibility to ensure that any product selected is suitable for its technical requirements and will work in relation to the user’s specific application. Please don’t hesitate to contact our engineering team, to assist with your specific requirements, or if you have requirements outside the calculator scope.

? Single means cables in a flat configuration. Trefoil means 3 cables inside one cable cleat (Assuming that they make up a three phase system).
? Input the outer diameter of your cable. This will output the correct cable cleat size.

Cable cleat tolerances
SmartCleat single: ±2mm
SmartCleat trefoil: ±1.5mm
SmartCleat+ single: ±3mm
SmartCleat+ trefoil: ±2mm
Non-metallic SmartCleats: Cable diameter range is given in the product name (e.g. SCLT-1xØ15-20 GFP/EPDM).
mm
? Input the length of the installation. With this input the selector will output the correct quantity of products to order.
m
? Input how many short circuits the cable cleats should be rated for. Tested for one short circuit or tested for two consecutive short circuits (According to IEC 61914:2021).
? Use prospective max short circuit peak current as calculated for the actual part of the electrical network. If not available, calculations to determine it must be performed. As we apply no safety margin, the peak current calculation should be conservative.
kA
? Input the center-center distance between cables. This input together with the peak short circuit current is used to calculate the electromechanical force. The minimum input value is automatically changed based on the given cable diameter.
mm
? Standard channel width of 1.0m. For additional supporting options, contact Oglaend System.
? Vertical and horizontal installations must be considered separately. I.e., if a project consists of both horizontal and vertical installations, two separate cleat selections should be done – one for horizontal and one for vertical runs.

Øglænd System are unique in testing the cable cleats together with our recommended cable management support as a complete system. This delivers the reassurance that the individual parts of the system are complementary and designed with system methodology. Most cable cleat suppliers are unable to offer such a complete system, and often cannot provide details about forces and effects of their cleats on the supporting system.
The recommendations shown are based on this full system approach, tested, calculated and certified according to the international IEC 61914: 2021 standard and based on the highest inputs given.
