Snøhvit LNG facility

The Snøhvit LNG facility is located on the Melkøya island in the southern Barents Sea. This location has an especially harsh artic environment.

To withstand this corrosive environment, Oglaend System delivered stainless steel products with AISI 316L material quality. For this project there was a huge amount of support systems, cable ladder and cable trays needed. About 26, 000 metres of Mekano® and UNO support systems, 26500 metres of LOE and OE cable ladders and 65,000 metres of different types of cable trays. A large number of accessories and special equipment were also supplied to the Snøhvit project.

Snøhvit is the world’s northernmost LNG facility and it receives natural gas from the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea. The natural gas goes through a cooling process to become liquified natural gas, which is exported onwards using custom-built tankers.
